Krista Messam,

Clinical Chaplain and Leader of the Transition Circle
Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground
- Oscar Wilde

Krista is a clinical chaplain and the leader of the Transition Circle: Creating Meaningful Rituals for Coping with Loss, a support group for anyone navigating grief due to death or loss. She has spent the past 10 years in the presence of individuals, caregivers, families, and medical staff who are navigating the grief and hope that often accompany important life transitions or loss.

Krista has been invited to assist with planning and performing both weddings and funerals, where she witnessed the power of creating sacred spaces to tell our stories of love and loss. She often felt a need for more sacred spaces like these to honor the many stories of love and loss we carry but are hard to name, such as heartbreak, identity crisis, existential crisis, becoming a mother, divorce, and chronic debilitating health issues. Her hope is to provide for others what she wishes she had- a guide and a community to help me name and process the complexity of my experiences and honor these important life events through meaningful rituals.
