Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Marlo Smith, End of Life Doula, Grief Doula, and Music Therapist, has partnered with Dr. Bob and Elizabeth Uslander in providing End of Life Care since 2016, joining Empowered Endings in December of 2022.

Marlo is a board-certified Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapist and Hospice Grief Counselor who has supported individuals facing terminal illness, and their families, with loving grace since 2008.

Practicing from holistic, person-centered and existential perspectives, she believes every individual has strengths and resources, and that there is always a pathway to balance and comfort — no matter the level of pain or function. She is a Fellow of the Association of Music and Imagery, and practitioner of the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), which helps to illuminate the maps of our inner world and connect us with the wisdom and comfort accessible in our experience of the outer world.

Bob and Elizabeth are just very gentle souls. There was no pressure and shared with my wife Rachel and I the many options you have to consider. It felt just like someone putting their arms around you.

For us as a family, Bob and Elizabeth gave us the tranquility and support that we needed at that moment. It made a total difference in the way my Dad passed away. It allowed me to be the daughter and not a nurse.
