Elizabeth Uslander Interviewed by Authority Magazine

At the helm of Empowered Endings is Elizabeth Uslander, MSW, MTS, the Co-Founder, and Director. Recognized as a conscious entrepreneur, Elizabeth, along with her husband, Dr. Bob Uslander, established Empowered Endings to catalyze social paradigm shifts in End of Life Care. Their vision extends beyond conventional approaches, aiming to ensure quality care and support for all throughout their end of life journeys.

Elizabeth’s personal and professional  journey, shaped by diverse cultural experiences, a commitment to holistic well-being, and a passion for education and advocacy, laid the foundation for her vision of Empowered Endings.

Growing up amidst the juxtaposition of urban vibrancy in Washington, DC, and the tranquility of the Shenandoah Valley, she cultivated a profound connection to both humanity and nature. This upbringing became instrumental in her understanding of the interconnectedness of physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health.

In this interview with Jake Frankel from Authority Magazine on Medium.com, Elizabeth discusses her career in the Health and Wellness Industry and the journey that led her to co-found Empowered Endings including:

Elizabeth’s personal journey of healing and empowerment.
Her personal healing journey, marked by loss, trauma, and illness, became the catalyst for her dedication to education and advocacy for holistic health options. Facing a major medical crisis at 19, Elizabeth navigated a challenging decades-long recovery, learning to connect deeply with her body, mind, heart, spirit, and community.

An early connection to the 5 dimensions of wellness
Her parents were early inspirations, instilling the importance of maintaining wellness in all aspects of being: physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual. Elizabeth’s diverse exposure to spiritual mentors and passion for social justice fueled her desire for a humanitarian career and led her to explore the intersection of spiritual care and social work, ultimately finding her calling in End of Life Care.

A Call to Transform End of Life Care
Elizabeth’s profound experiences and commitment to comprehensive, compassionate care became the bedrock of Empowered Endings. Recognizing the limitations of existing healthcare systems, Empowered Endings challenges the status quo, offering a customizable suite of services. Their unique approach, centered on ensuring patients and families feel heard, held and whole, aims to redefine the narrative around End of Life Care.
