Opt-In
Empowered Endings will be collecting opt-in verbally from their customers. Customers can opt in to receive messages either in person at the physical location or over a phone call when contacting Empowered Endings. When a customer is registered for the first time, staff members are trained to request the customer’s phone number and to ask if the customer would like to opt in to SMS-based communications. Staff will read the following script: “By opting in, consent is given to receive messages from Empowered Endings. The types of messages that will be sent include conversational messages related to medical and administrative follow-ups. Message and data rates may apply. On average, 1-2 messages per month may be sent. Text HELP for support or more information and STOP to unsubscribe at any time. For more information, please visit our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions at https://empoweredendings.com/ privacy-notice/.”
To use the opt-in text you generated, follow these steps:
- Ensure your opt-in text includes all required disclosures:
- Your brand name
- Instructions to reply STOP to opt out and HELP for more info
- Message frequency (e.g., “Message frequency may vary”)
- “Message and Data Rates may apply”
- Incorporate the opt-in text into your user opt-in process:
- When a user opts in (such as by texting a keyword or submitting a form), send them the opt-in confirmation message you created.
- Make the opt-in process explicit and clear:
- Provide all necessary information up front, so users know exactly what they are agreeing to.
- Send the opt-in confirmation message to the user:
- Example: “[Brand Name] Thank you for opting in for our texting notifications. Message frequency may vary. Message and Data Rates may apply. To end messaging from us, you may always Reply with STOP or HELP for more information.”
- Store or log the opt-in event for compliance:
- Keep a record of when and how each user opted in, as this may be required for audits or dispute resolution.
- After opt-in, you can begin sending your campaign or notification messages, ensuring all future messages also comply with 10DLC requirements.
If you collect opt-ins via web forms, paper, or verbally, make sure the opt-in text is clearly presented and that you document the consent process. Including links to your Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions is also considered best practice.
